Named after Lindo Lake near the town center, Lakeside is located among the western foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains. It runs along the San Diego River about 21 miles east of Downtown San Diego. With strong agricultural roots, the town of Lakeside strives to maintain its pastoral environment. A considerable amount of small-scale farming remains, and many residences feature small horse corrals. The population is around 19,000 people, and the median household income is close to $70,000.
